Day 39: Beginners

San Francisco Summary Week: In light of being over a week behind on posting, most of these posts will be summaries.

Best Breakfast Cure for a Post-Wild Wednesday: Berry & Millet Muffin from Arizmendi Bakery and Philtered Soul from Philz on 24th.

Best New Food Truck to Check Out When Still Recovering at Lunchtime: AnTheGo (Garlic Noodles (sooooo good) with Shrimp Kebabs and a side of crispy rolls)).

Best Surprise of the Night: Getting to hold the door open at the Castro Theatre for a flustered and late Ewan McGregor who rushed into opening night of the San Francisco International Film Festival for a Q&A after a delayed flight from Paris.

Second Best Surprise of the Night: Being able to see the opening film, Mike MillsBeginners. Mills’ intro was hilarious, and the film was sweet, but not sappy. Nothing groundbreaking, but nice to find out it was a semi-autobiographical. Excellent performances by Ewan, Captain Von Trapp, and that French chick from Inglorious Basterds – aka Julie Delpy 2.0. Film was very human in dealing with complex relationships and had a happy (yet tolerable) ending.

Best Decision of Transitioning to SF: Volunteering with the film festival here, despite having to downgrade from my theater manager status with Milwaukee Film. Finding it to be just as fun and filled with just as many awesome people.
